Here’s a great accessory for the new Cox Box that will help you incorporate other forms of technology into your training. This audio adapter allows you to connect the standard microphone to the Cox Box while simultaneously connecting a 2-way radio, digital voice recorder, or mp3 player. Has either a 2.5mm or 3.5mm radio connector, please select from drop down box. (2.5mm for some two-way radios or 3.5mm for most Voice Recorders/Audio Players & some two-way radios).
With a 2-way radio (walkie talkie), a coach can communicate with his crew through the boat speakers at the same time as the coxswain. With a digital voice recorder, a coxswain can record every call during a practice or race and review the audio later with a coach. (This is especially useful for high school coxswains who need to send a recording to various colleges for the application process.)
Finally, if your coach allows it, you can use this audio adapter to play music through the speakers while still allowing the coxswain to communicate with the crew. This is nice for long steady state rows, so long as you can decide on what type of music to play!
