Over recent weeks I have had reasons to call on you for after sales service and advice regarding the Nielsen-Kellerman equipment used in the rowing boats I maintain at Brisbane Grammar School.

Your co-operation given in conversation to problem solve what eventuated to be sticky electrical contacts on a very early model SpeedCoach and then, without hesitation, replace a suspected faulty battery in a cox-box was greatly appreciated.

The decision to replace a lower cost sealed speaker/cable harness, which had failed due water contamination of the speakers, with the slightly more expensive Nielsen-Kellerman modular sectioned harness and independent speaker will prove to be cost effective over time. The savings will achieved as only individual components when worn will need to be replaced as against the complete harness.

I had the coaches unit beside the race on Saturday and all the other coaches gathered round to watch the display as the crew raced past.  Thank you very much for looking after us and getting the units back to us so quickly.  I used the graph from the two races we had at last week ends regatta to set a new race plan for this week ends regatta.  I just love the detail and analyzing the data after training sessions and regattas.  I now have a few years of both girls and boys crews to compare.  Hours of fun.  If you remember I sent you an email asking about calibration of the boat unit and we came up with a figure.  It worked perfectly.  The distance was exactly 2000m for both races last week end so I am now getting really accurate data.  I am using a spread sheet produced by the Queensland Academy of Sport in which you set a 2000m race time you wish for your crew to achieve and it then lists a whole lot of speeds you should be doing in training at particular rates.  The idea being that come race day you will achieve the speed and time you are after.

Matt had a little surprise for Lisa upon our arrival in the form of a new cox box. Now most of us would not be too excited about a cox box, but for Lisa it was like a little bit of Christmas. What is a cox box some of you none rowers are asking...well it connects to the boat so that Lisa can speak to us...maybe yell at us at times...and we can hear her. There are also other components that tell her our stroke rate and if the boat is fitted with proper wiring actually tell her how fast we are going. The exciting thing for Lisa was that it was in Aussie colours and had a kangaroo on either side of it, so this made her day!

Just letting you know that the strokecoach arrived at work today(Wed). Thankyou very much for you promptness for getting this to my daughter. She is delighted and should be able to put it to good use in the next NSW time trials in a few weeks time.

I find the XL range of Speed Coaches very handy in both my sculling and in the pair.
In the scull it not only gives me instant feedback but it gives my coach the exact same information instantaneously.
When we use them in the pair, it can get used the same way as the single or what we often do is put the second unit in the bow seat.
That gives my pair partner Drew Ginn accurate, instant information on how we are performing. It could even give him my heart rate (if I wanted to!!)
