The default setting is 1.000 but this can be changed to account for minor changes based on boat design and where the impeller is installed. You should row a known distance (a buoyed course is ideal) and use the following formula to determine the new calibration value: (Old Cal Value) x (True Distance)/Displayed Distance= New Cal Value
